Started working with Derek towards the end of 2016 where I needed to prepare for a tournament in Sweden. With only 7 months to continue with my preparations I opted for his new “X-Body” workout system which engages all of the major muscle groups during the session.

To cut a long story short, his training along with the team training resulted in me being in excellent physical condition. I have stuck with the X-Body system ever since. I personally feel I get more out of my sessions. The system can be very tough at times since he can control it’s intensity. And I mean INTENSE — ouch!!

As a professional, Derek is very detail orientated with regards to my form during work outs to avoid injury and to ensure the correct muscles are activated. He spends time explaining in terms that are understandable what the exercise is intended to achieve.

Another example of detail: my tournament training sessions leading up to they tournament were switched to 5:00 am to match the time difference in Sweden. I moaned at first, but this proved to be an excellent decision and showed real commitment by Derek which meant I did not suffer any jet lag issues.

He has helped me through numerous injuries and worked with instructions provided by my physiotherapists.

Derek is also able to provide nutritional advice. My wife and I have done his “28 Day Challenge” where we lost 10 lbs each during that program. We are doing it again to rid ourselves of our COVID excesses.

Our sessions can be rather lively with rather interesting conversations. And, you will definitely become familiar with 70’s “First Wave” music. It’s all great fun.

I joined withe Derek and Whole-Ly Fit about 18 months ago and have been more than impressed with the results that we have been able to achieve. I was referred by a friend who highly recommended him and suggested that he and I would probably click because our age difference was a closer match and that he would probably understand the needs of a recent retiree better than some other trainers. That proved to be a fantastic recommendation and one that I will never regret. At age 64, I started with several health challenges that Derek was very comfortable addressing and quickly focused on to make better. I was wearing a back brace which Derek told me that we would get rid of as soon as possible. 2 weeks later that back brace was gone and I have not needed it again. From that initial effort, I was hooked on Derek’s knowledge and research to understand other challenges that I had been having in keeping up an active lifestyle. At my age I don’t want to be, and will never be, a sculptured athlete. I just want to be strong and healthy enough to enjoy my retirement and an active lifestyle (I bike several times a week; I do biking holidays; I walk often and do walking vacations; I play tennis and enjoy swimming, lobster diving and lots of other outdoor activities, every day).

Since joining Derek, we have come through several other injuries that he has researched and worked with me to address. I am always impressed by his knowledge and certainly his extra efforts and explanations to educate me and reduce the chance of re-injuring myself. Derek is focused on doing exercises correctly, and that are designed for me to ensure maximum benefit and that reduce the chance of hurting myself. That is so important to me at this age because as a male, I still think I can do what I could do at 35 without injury!!! Derek has many interests that intersect with my interests and working out is always fun and something I look forward to…

Great results fast!

I don't like gyms and I detest exercise. So, I guess I can say that I am certainly not Derek's ideal client!

However, Whole-ly Fit is no ordinary gym!! I've tried dancersize, regular group exercise classes before. My mainstay for years was actually formal dance (tap, ballet and jazz classes) with equestrian horseback riding lessons thrown in for good measure - activities used to disguise exercise. Walking wasn't working for me since (in my mind) it's got to lead to a destination not a goal. So, I needed a whip - Derek's just that!

I've been attending Whole-ly Fit now, for four years, Derek's obviously a "jock" but tailors workout expectations to meet his clients where they are. He's personable and actually makes training fun. Does Fisher know his stuff? Absolutely!!!!

Professional in a small unpretentious package - with personal attention given even to nutrition and food plans - Whole-ly fit is an understated gym and Bermuda's best kept secret, until now...
